Families with young children are invited to a special Storytime in the Park from 10-11 a.m. on Fridays at the Rainbow Stage at ARC Park. Hosted by the Hays Public Library, this free event is geared toward children from birth through pre-kindergarten and will feature stories, music, dancing, and playful activities in a vibrant outdoor setting.
In case of rain, Storytime will move indoors to the Storytime Room at the Hays Public Library.
Ashlyn Sager, HPL’s early literacy coordinator, shared the significance of the event’s location.
“The Rainbow Stage was a project created by a Leadership Hays class that included a member of the Hays Public Library staff, so the library has a special connection to this space,” she said. “It’s a beautiful outdoor venue located next to ARC Park, perfect for families to enjoy time together.”
The goal of Storytime at Rainbow Stage is to encourage families to spend time outside during the summer months. Being outdoors not only boosts children’s moods but also provides opportunities for social interaction and imaginative play.
During the event, families can expect to enjoy two engaging stories, cool popsicles, and plenty of fun. After the stories, children are encouraged to stay and play at ARC Park, where they can make new friends and continue exploring.
“The Rainbow Stage reflects our mission to enrich lives,” Sager said. “It helps children build friendships and encourages creativity through storytelling and play.”
Sager says to bring a blanket, sunscreen, and your imagination, saying it’s sure to be a memorable morning for the whole family.
