Though Hays is looking down the barrel of another windy week, Rob Bennett—a meteorologist with the Dodge City National Weather Service—prescribes an otherwise uneventful weather forecast. The most interesting highlight will be the occasional bout of precipitation.
“Into this week we have low chances of spotty rain, but maybe even an isolated thunderstorm on Tuesday,” he said. “Weak boundaries moving through the area are responsible for the occasional bouts of rain.”
Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday have a significant chance of rain, though only Tuesday anticipates thunderstorms. Students on campus and residents of the Hays area at large should prepare for similar power outages to those that have occurred for the last two weeks. The outlook isn’t severe, but it can benefit citizens to have a battery-operated flashlight on hand.
“In between those storms, fire weather watches are going to prevail… It’s just the type of year we’re in,” Bennett said.
