From a fishing derby and 5K to student organization training, Student Engagement has several events happening this week.
RSO 101 Training
Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom
Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Memorial Union Black and Gold Room
RSO Training provides registered student organizations with crucial information on processes related to the Business Office, Student Fiscal Services, SGA, and Student Engagement.
“We hope student organizations can take the processes and skills they learned and apply them to their student organization this year,” Student Engagement Coordinator Ali Colwell said. “We hope anyone who comes leaves with new ideas and a better understanding of how to run a student organization successfully.”
Colwell said the Student Engagement Office made multiple updates to the Student Organization Handbook and created a new review process for the organizations. RSO Training is also important because there are many steps and policies student organizations must follow regarding traveling, purchasing supplies and fundraising.
This year’s RSO Training will differ from last year’s and will include breakout sessions on various topics. Colwell encourages each organization to bring its entire officer board. Two sessions are available to provide scheduling flexibility. Students do not need to attend both days. Dinner will be provided.
