Fort Hays State volleyball is set to host games this weekend for the first time this season. The team has been on the road to start the season, playing in two tournaments and two MIAA matches for a total of 10 matches. The Tigers sit at 5-5 at this point of the season entering their first games inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.
The Tigers started the MIAA season with two tough losses to Washburn and Emporia. Fort Hays State traveled to the No. 2 Ichabods last Friday and took one set from Washburn but ultimately lost 3-1. On Saturday, the Tigers led the Hornets 2-0, almost winning three straight sets. However, the Hornets rallied to beat FHSU 3-2.
“We did not get the outcome we wanted this past weekend, but we can’t wait to play at home,” Junior OH/RS Riley Tinder said. “We have been waiting to be at Gross Memorial and can’t wait to see our fans.”
The Tigers look to get a win against conference opponents Central Oklahoma and Newman. Fort Hays welcomes Central Oklahoma tonight at Gross Memorial Coliseum at 6 p.m. and will play Newman Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
