EMPORIA, Kan. – The Fort Hays State men’s track and field team placed fifth at the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Championship with 73 team points after picking up three All-MIAA honors and breaking one school record on Sunday (May 8).
The 4x400m relay team of Hayden Albright, Jack Pakkebier, Nolan Churchman and Ethan Lang combined for a school-record time of 3:11.06 to wrap up the day with a second-place finish and a spot on the All-MIAA podium.
Churchman and Lang also picked up All-MIAA status in individual events, with Churchman finishing second in the 400m dash with a personal-best provisional time of 47.30. Lang posted a third-place finish in the 800m run finals with a time of 1:52.54.
The Tigers racked up 15 team points in that 800m race after Aaron Mangan placed fourth with a time of 1:52.99 and Trever Medina finished fifth after crossing the line in 1:54.25.
Fort Hays State also picked up team points in three field events on Sunday. Dayton Williams finished fifth in the high jump after clearing the 6-6 bar, while Xavier Robinson was also fifth in the triple jump with a top leap of 48-0. David Enns cleared the provisional threshold in the javelin with a personal-best toss of 208-9, good for seventh place and two team points.
For the week, Fort Hays State had four All-MIAA performances including Ryan Stanley’s third-place finish in the pole vault on Saturday.
Pittsburg State took home the team title with 169 team points, with Missouri Southern placing second with 135 points.
The Tigers are next scheduled to compete at the Loper Twilight next Saturday (May 14) in Kearney, Neb. before heading to Allendale, Mich. May 26-28 for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.
