Jana’s Campaign will be partnering with the Hays Arts Council to participate in their Spring 2022 Art Walk on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
Jana’s Campaign is a national education and prevention organization based in Hays, Kansas and was founded with the mission of reducing gender and relationship violence.
The campaign provides educational materials and presentations regarding domestic and dating violence, stalking, and sexual violence to their three program areas: secondary education, higher education, and the community. Since 2013, Jana’s Campaign has impacted over 8,000 students in grades K-12 in 43 states.
According to Kaiti Blackburn, the executive director of Jana’s Campaign, the organization has partnered with the Hays Arts Council to participate in the Spring Art Walk for years.
“The partnership has been a great opportunity for Jana’s Campaign to continue to raise awareness within the community,” said Blackburn.
This partnership between Jana’s Campaign and the Hays Arts Council is one of the organization’s 150+ community partnerships.
The Spring 2022 Art Walk falls right at the tail-end of Sexual Assualt Awareness Month, a time when Jana’s Campaign is hard at work educating students and the community about sexual violence.
Blackburn feels that having a booth at the Art Walk is a great way to wrap up Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
Jana’s Campaign hopes to bring to light specific issues and provide information to the community regarding dating violence. This year, the Jana’s Campaign booth will be centered around healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors.
The Jana’s Campaign booth has been largely organized by two Fort Hays State University student interns, Sydney Boxburger and Brooklyn Burk.
Jana’s Campaign has received art submissions for the booth from both FHSU students and the Hays community and will feature a multitude of art forms, including poetry, graphic design, chalk art, and potentially a forensic dialogue intended to reflect the booth’s theme.
Jana’s Campaign is accepting artwork submissions for their booth until April 20th. Artwork can be submitted to the organization by emailing janascampaign@gmail.com.
Blackburn encourages everyone to come out and see the Jana’s Campaign booth at the Art Walk.
The Jana’s Campaign booth will be open to the public from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM on April 30, 2022, in downtown Hays.
