The Hays High School girls’ basketball team showed determination Tuesday night against Great Bend, coming away with a 47-33 victory.
Hays High started the first quarter tight with Great Bend. The Indians gained their first lead of the game by two points with 39 seconds left in the quarter, eventually leading 11-8 at the end of one.
It was a back-and-forth game the entire second quarter. Hays High was never able to push its lead to more than two points. The Indians went into the half ahead, 22-20.
After the half, the Indians never let Great Bend get comfortable and took a 32-29 advantage.
The fourth quarter was a hot frame for the Indians. Hays High pulled away with time points to push the final margin to 14 points.
