The Hays High School boys’ basketball team had a slow start to Tuesday night’s home game against rival Great Bend.

In the end, though, it didn’t matter much as the Indians rolled to a 58-31 victory over the Panthers to remain perfect at 3-0 in Western Athletic Conference play.

Great Bend led 8-0 to start the game, but the Indians weren’t going to give up early and went on an 11-0 run late in the quarter to edge out to an 11-8 advantage after the first quarter.

Indians were able to pull ahead by 10 in the second to give them a solid lead before halftime, eventually leading 23-1.5

Great Bend never got back within eight of the Indians and struggled to score the entire third quarter. Hays High was able to score 16 points in the period.

The Indians went into the final quarter with ease, leading 39-21.

Hays High had a big final quarter and went deep into its bench, scoring 19 points in the quarter.
