By FHSU SPORTS INFORMATION

Fort Hays State senior goalkeeper Deonna Wellbrock was named to the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, released on Thursday (Nov. 11). Wellbrock earned All-MIAA Third Team honors this season and lands this prestigious award that combines both athletic and academic accomplishments, voted on by Sports Information Directors and Athletic Media Relations Directors throughout the nation.

Wellbrock led the MIAA during the regular season in both goals against average (0.80) and save percentage (.849). She posted seven wins for the Tigers during the 2021 season, playing 1,668 minutes in goal for the Tigers. She also led the MIAA in individual shutouts during the regular season with seven.

Wellbrock holds a 3.62 cumulative GPA as a Health and Human Performance major at FHSU. She will be an MIAA Scholar-Athlete this year by earning all-conference honors and holding a GPA above 3.5. She will be a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for a fifth straight year.

Wellbrock is the fourth CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree for FHSU Women’s Soccer in the last three years. Cailey Perkins and Maja Persa earned the distinction back in the spring of 2021 when CoSIDA voted on an individual’s career athletic and academic accomplishments due to the COVID-19 pandemic wiping out the 2020 fall championship season for women’s soccer. The year prior, Darby Hirsch was named both All-District and All-America for her accomplishments on the field that season combined with her career academic accomplishments.
