Fort Hays State men’s soccer had four student-athletes named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, released on Thursday (Nov. 11). The group includes Alec Bevis, Kieran Brown, Nicolas Cortes, and Viktor Robertsson. Fort Hays State has four of the 10 individuals listed on the team, the most of any school within District 7 (Central Region).

Bevis and Brown are now two-time recipients of this prestigious award that combines an individual’s yearly athletic accomplishments with their career academic accomplishments. They both received the honor in the spring of 2021 when CoSIDA voted on an athlete’s career athletic and academic accomplishments since the 2020 fall championship season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bevis continues to be a force anchoring the back of the Tiger defense. He has played 1,557 minutes this year and has one goal to his credit, while helping the Tigers to a 0.86 goals against average and six shutouts this season. Bevis was an All-GAC/MIAA First Team selection and named to the GAC/MIAA All-Tournament Team in the spring of 2021 during a shortened seven-game season. In 2019, he was the GAC/MIAA Freshman of the Year and a D2CCA All-Region Second Team selection. Bevis holds a 3.92 GPA as a Chemistry major.

Brown leads the GAC/MIAA with an 0.79 goals against average. He also leads the conference with an .823 save percentage and 65 saves this season. He ranks 16th nationally in save percentage and 18th in goals against average. Brown has an 11-5-2 record between the pipes this season with six shutouts. He was an All-GAC/MIAA First Team selection in the spring of 2021 during a shortened seven-game season. Brown holds a 3.80 GPA as a Health and Human Performance major.

Cortes picks up this honor for the first time in his career. He has played in all 18 contests this year, making 17 starts in the midfield with 1,477 minutes on the pitch. He has three assists to his credit, all during conference matches. Cortes holds a perfect 4.0 GPA as a Management major.

Robertsson has been solid for the Tigers in the midfield this season, accumulating 10 points with four goals and two assists. He has logged 1,379 minutes on the field for the Tigers this season and has one game-winning goal. Robertsson holds a 3.87 GPA as a Biology major.

This is the most single-season CoSIDA Academic All-District selections for FHSU Men’s Soccer in program history. FHSU Men’s Soccer has now earned nine Academic All-District selections within the last five seasons.
