How to enjoy Halloween season in Hays

BY EMMA PLANK

Fall is in full swing, and with Halloween just around the corner, what’s better than a bucket list for all things Fall?

Although Homecoming was weeks ago, FHSU students sure know how to cheer on the Tiger Football team during every game. The Tigers play this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. vs Emporia State. Other than taking in a football game, there is so much more you can do to make the most out of all Hays has to offer.

Hays has a Haunted Hotel located on main street for all adrenaline and scare-seeking locals. It is open this year to the public on Fridays and Saturdays in the month of October, so if this is something you love, make sure to get in this weekend.

If you’re not much of a Haunted House person, there are a number of pumpkin patches in the area. Go on over, or even to Dillons, to pick out your perfect pumpkin to carve or paint with your friends.

Having a firepit/ scary movie night with some of your friends and drinking some apple cider can be a great way to relax and enjoy the fall season. Some movie recommendations may include: Hocus Pocus, Spooky Buddies, Insidious, Midsommar, A Quiet Place, and The Conjuring. Cuddle up with a blanket and some snacks and enjoy the show.

If you’re not much of a movie person, try just going on a walk or doing a fall-themed photoshoot in the cooler weather. If you’re a morning person, you could even wake up earlier to walk through the mist that clouds cold-Hays mornings and simply enjoy the cooler weather.

If you love art and love creating it, The Niche Studio is hosting a canvas painting class this Thursday, October 28 from 6-8 pm. This is a fun way to get involved and even try something new.

And last but not least, Halloween. This is a holiday that college students are almost always participating in. Everyone can dress up and hit up some fun parties, or even host one.

There is plenty of fun to be had on Halloween each year, but make sure to have fun and be safe!
