The Fort Hays State University men’s soccer team had one opponent to face this week in #25 Rogers State. With the Tigers back at home, it felt like this should have been the game to get another win under their belt. The game went down to every last second, going to the 110th min of the match before Fort Hays and Rogers State tied, nil-nil.

“We are both right there, its harder at the end of the season when you know they have ten seniors on the team, where we only had two,” Head Coach Gerry Cleary said. “I thought that this was going to be a one-score game and it ended up being scoreless.”

Fort Hays had some opportunities to score goals in the match, but could never get them on target into the goal. If their shots were towards the net the keeper had easy saves. Cleary spoke out about his front line missing their opportunities.

“That is what let us down today. I have a saying: go in there and break a tooth, if you don’t break a tooth then you’re not getting your chances and they didn’t claim those opportunities,” he said.

With Fort Hays and  Rogers State tieing up the game, both teams are sitting tied for the second spot in the conference. Tigers are now 8-4-2 on the season and have just two more weeks left of the regular season. Fort Hays travels to Ouachita Baptist and Harding for their last road set of the season next weekend. Should FHSU win out, they will win the GAC league title and host the GAC tournament.
