CLAREMORE, Okla. – The 18th-ranked FHSU Men’s Soccer team won 3-1 over 23rd-ranked Rogers State on Saturday (Sept. 25) in the GAC/MIAA opener. The game was scoreless after one half, but the Tigers came to life early in the second half scoring back-to-back goals only two minutes apart and added another for good measure with five minutes left in the match to extend their lead back to two.

The first Tiger score came from the foot of Viktor Robertsson in the 50th minute for his second goal of the season. He was assisted by Jonathan Gammelvind. The Tigers wasted no time extending their lead as Blake Arndt scored the first of his two goals in the 52nd minute off of a pass from Ethan Doud. The Tigers led 2-0 for much of the second half until the Hillcats finally netted a goal of their own at the end of the 84th minute. But, Arndt struck again moments later when Taisei Arima found him alone inside the box with the keeper out of position. The Tigers won the shot battle 17-14 and put five shots on target. Goalkeeper Kieran Brown compiled five saves in the match.

Tigers will be back in action on September 30 as they host Ouachita Baptist in Hays with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 pm.
