The Fort Hays State volleyball team dropped its final home match of the spring to Washburn on Friday (April 2), with the Ichabods winning in three sets. The Tigers are now 3-7 this spring, while Washburn moves to 13-3 in 2021.
The Ichabods pulled away early to take the opening set, 25-15. Washburn looked to be running away with the second set before Fort Hays State battled back to tie things up and stay alive. The Ichabods led by six, 13-7, before a 7-1 run helped the Tigers tie the score at 14. The score was tied as late as 17-17 before Washburn took the lead for good. FHSU closed within 20-19, but the Ichabods scored the final five points to take the set, 25-19. Washburn finished things off with a 25-18 win in set number three.
The Tigers will return to the court April 9 when they travel to Maryville, Mo. to take on No. 18 Northwest Missouri State. First serve is slated for 6 p.m.
