Tigers begin week of home non-conference games Sunday

Fort Hays State Men’s Basketball will close out its slate of December games with three straight contests at home this week. The action begins on Sunday (Dec. 15) in a 4 pm meeting with Kansas Wesleyan. The Tigers enter at 4-4, while Kansas Wesleyan is 8-5 and plays on Saturday before heading to Hays.

The Tigers are coming off a pair of road losses in MIAA play last week at Nebraska-Kearney and Emporia State. This will be the 89th meeting between FHSU and Kansas Wesleyan. The Tigers hold a 26-win lead in the all-time series and have won 18 straight. The teams last met in the 2017-18 season, resulting in an 83-49 win for FHSU.

Devin Davis continues to lead the Tigers in scoring at 12.5 points per game, while also leading in assists at 2.5 per game. Jared Vitztum leads the Tigers in rebounding at 7.1 per game, while tying for second in scoring with Nyjee Wright at 11.4 points per game each. Jake Hutchings also averages double figures in scoring at 10.1 points per game.

The Tigers will have two more home games this week following Sunday’s contest. FHSU hosts Bethel College on Tuesday (Dec. 17) and then Avila University on Friday (Dec. 20).
