Nia Vasquez-Ward, a senior from Colorado Springs, CO, is excited to be a 2019 Fort Hays State University Homecoming candidate finalist.  Vasquez-Ward is representing Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, an organization that she holds close to her heart:

“AGD has taught me new values that I plan to take with me and how to be a leader in any situation,” says Vasquez-Ward.

She chose to come to FHSU because of the spirit she experienced here.

“My favorite part of FHSU is the school spirit held not just within the university but in the whole Hays community,” Vasquez-Ward said.

She is looking forward to the homecoming football game where “everyone is brought together to celebrate what it means to be a Tiger.”  When asked what it means to be a homecoming candidate, Vaquez-Ward said, “To me, being recognized as a candidate means that I am given the opportunity to show what it means to be a student here and keep the traditions of Fort Hays State.”

Be on the lookout for Vasquez-Ward and the other royalty candidates as they participate in this year’s homecoming festivities.  Voting for the title of King and Queen will take place from 9:00 AM October 9th to noon October 11th on TigerLink or in Memorial Union from 11am to 1 PM on October 9th and 10th.
