The Lady Indians’ first match was not an easy one against Salina South. It was close from the beginning with the Indians coming out with a win of 25-23 in the 1st set. South was not going to give up that easy taking the 2nd set by ten points making the 2nd set score 25-15, taking the match into a 3rd set. The Indians and Cougars battle back and forth the whole 3rd set, but the Indians couldn’t follow through losing 25-23. Senior, Tasiah Nunnery leading the team with 11 kills and 9 assists in this match, with Senior Sierra Bryant following with 6 kills and 3 solo blocks.
Hays High then took on the Abilene Cowgirls. Making this match a close one as well, the Indians battled the whole first set but couldn’t finish strong losing the 1st set 25-20. With a new set for the Indians to regain their strength, they set out to take this match into a 3rd set. Coming out a little a slow the Indians weren’t going to give up that easily, making it a close set but the Indians couldn’t make their way back up, losing 25-19. Tasiah Nunnery led the team again with 5 kills and 7 assists and Sierra Bryant following again with 5 kills as well.
The third match came up and the Indians were not going to let this day get the worst of them. They came out strong against the Norton Blue Jays going back and forth the whole game and finished strong, winning 25-20. The Indians came out again in the second set with fire. They were determined to win this game in two and that’s what they did with the final score being 25-18. Tasiah Nunnery led the team again with 10 kills and 10 assists, Sierra Bryant was up there again with 5 kills, sophomore Kaitlin Suppes stepped in at setter racking up 9 assists, and finally, junior Brooklyn Schaffer had 7 digs.
The Lady Indians went 1-2 on the day making their season record 11-7. The Indians will head to Great Bend on Saturday October 5th.
