TMP Volleyball Sweeps Home Triangular on Senior Night

The Thomas More Prep-Marion High School volleyball team swept Oakley and Smith Center at home on Tuesday, September 24th. It was also Senior night for TMP’s lone senior, Kallyn DeWitt, which made victory even sweeter.

TMP took Smith Center to three sets in the first match of the night. TMP won a close first set, 25-22, but Smith Center took control of the second set, defeating TMP 25-11. In a nail-biting third set, Smith Center had the opportunity to win when they were ahead 24-22, but TMP took advantage of a couple of mistakes and tied it up at 24. The two teams battled point for point but TMP finally emerged on top 28-26. Emilee Lane led the Monarchs with 11 kills, and Tallon Rentschler led Smith Center with 14 kills. 

Smith Center bounced back in their second match against Oakley, defeating them in two sets, 25-14 and 25-11. Ashlyn Long aided Smith Center’s victory with 6 kills. Liberty Booker contributed 4 aces for Oakley.

In the third match, TMP topped Oakley in two sets, 25-10 and 25-13. Jadyn Gottschalk’s 7 aces and Emilee Lane’s 11 kills finalized TMP’s sweep of the night. 

TMP will play Saturday, September 28th in the Lakin tournament.  Smith Center will also play on Saturday at the Hoisington tournament. Oakley will face Hill City and Trego in Wakeeney on Tuesday, October, 1st.
