STORY BY COLE HARRIS
We are fortunate to have a very diverse student body with very diverse skills here at Fort Hays State, and the student-member alt-rock band Dangerously Biased is living proof of that. The two-piece band emerged from FHSU in 2017 and consists of bassist/singer Matt Isley and drummer/singer Sophia Thompson. Their first performance was at Defiance Brewing Company in Hays last summer in July of 2018.
“The “Cage the Elephant-esque” alternative rock duo is currently making plans to record a single in the upcoming months and is hoping to cut an EP in early 2020. In the meantime, Dangerously Biased has been working hard playing the local Kansas bar scene and plays at the occasional festivals. When asked what the most rewarding part of playing music is, Isley said it is when everything comes together.
“The most rewarding thing to me is the moment when a song truly comes to fruition; when Sophi and I both come to see what a song is and could be,” Isley said. “Also, the excitement of loading into a venue we’ve not played before. And the people. You meet a lot of cool people playing shows.”
