STORY BY JENNA HOLLEY
Recently, the East Coast faced a terrifying hurricane. Hurricane Florence made landfall Thursday and brought massive storms to the Carolinas. Florence was a Category 4 causing roads and schools to be closed in the wake of the devastating hurricane. Fort Bragg was closed as well.
Residents of North Carolina and South Carolina have endured massive flooding in the last few days caused by the heavy rainfalls.
In order to prepare for the storm, many people made sure to stock up on supplies prior to the hurricane hitting. A family friend of mine, Donna Hall-Carroll of Lillington, North Carolina, made sure her family had several cases of water, food that didn’t require cooking, and that their cars were full of fuel.
Hall-Carroll also said people should not panic in the wake of their first major disaster and to “make sure they have a safe place to go if they need to evacuate.”
Many volunteers are working to help people affected by Hurricane Florence.
“First-responders have been wonderful, coming from all over to help,” Hall-Carroll said.
