KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State golfer Skyler Tebo has been named MIAA Men’s Golfer of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office.

Tebo finished tied for eighth at the Southern Colorado Masters this week in Pueblo, Colo. (April 9-10), firing off three par-or-better rounds at the par-71 Pueblo Country Club. The senior opened the tournament with five birdies in a 1-under first round (70) before carding even par in rounds two and three. He finished the tournament 1-under for the week, the first under par round for a Tiger since 2014 (Trey Herman, 4-under, UNK Invitational, 9/15-16/14). Coincidentally, this is the first weekly honor for a Tiger men’s golfer since Herman picked up the honor that same week.

The Ellis, Kan. native rolled in 12 birdies on the week, tied for fourth-most in the field and second-most among Division II athletes. Tebo took advantage of a three-hole stretch on the back nine all week, playing holes 14, 15 and 16 in 7-under through the three rounds.

Tebo helped the Tigers to their best round in more than eight years on Monday, contributing to a team score of 3-over 287. The team will be back in action next week as it heads to Edmond, Okla. and Rose Creek Golf Club for the Broncho Stampede Monday and Tuesday (April 16-17).
