Baseball Continues Home Stand Against Lindenwood

HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State baseball team looks to extend a two-game home winning streak this weekend (April 7-9) when they face off with Lindenwood for a three-game set. The MIAA rivals will face off at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday before a noon start in Sunday’s finale.

The Tigers enter the weekend 9-22 this season and 2-16 in league play, while the Lions sit at 19-14 on the year and 12-9 in MIAA action. The teams have split the all-time series, 5-5, with the Tigers leading 3-1 in games played at Larks Park.

Fort Hays State is batting .280 as a team, led by Ty Redington’s .333 average, 14 doubles from Nick Hammeke and five home runs from Dayton Pomeroy and Trevor Hughes. Four Tigers are batting .300 or better, including Redington, Hammeke, Pomeroy and Cody Starkel. Sam Capps leads the squad with a 3.86 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 11 appearances this season.

The Lions bat .292 as a unit, including three qualifying players batting north of .300. Wes Degener leads the team with a .383 batting average, ranking seventh in the MIAA. Kyle Teter is tied for the lead in the conference with five steals this season. Connor Law carries a team-best 3.46 ERA out of the bullpen. The pitching staff has a 4.83 ERA as a team.
