Wrestling Has 7 Earn MIAA Academic Honors, FHSU Produces All 4 MIAA Scholar-Athletes

FHSU Sports Information Department

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Wrestling had seven student-athletes named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll for the 2016-17 season. FHSU was the only school to produce recipients of the Scholar-Athlete Award with four, given to those that earn All-MIAA performance honors and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5.

To be a member of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll, athletes must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have at least two terms of attendance at the certifying member institution, excluding summer terms. The MIAA honors newcomers of all sports in the summer after they have completed the two-term requirement.

Earning Scholar-Athlete honors are Brandon Ball, Jon Inman, Micquille Robinson, and Greg Tooley. They were four of six Tigers to earn All-MIAA honors at the MIAA Championship Tournament. Ball, Inman, and Tooley went on to qualify for the NCAA Championships, and Ball and Inman earned All-America honors. All four were top notch in the classroom as well. The three national qualifiers in the group have grade-point averages above 3.7.

Joining the four MIAA Scholar-Athletes on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll are Rakim Dean, Jacob Kay, and Pearce Kinzer.
