HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State had its eight-match win streak snapped in the MIAA opener on Friday (Mar. 10) at the hands of No. 10 ranked Northeastern State. The RiverHawks won the match 9-0 and improved to 6-5 overall, 1-0 in the MIAA, while the Tigers went to 8-3 overall, 0-1 in the MIAA.
The No. 2 doubles team of Macy Moyers and Laura Jimenez-Lendinez put up a fight early in the dual, holding a lead midway through their match with Caitlin McCullough and Easton Parker. NSU rallied late for an 8-5 win in the match. The RiverHawks took the No. 1 match 8-2 and the No. 3 match 8-1.

In singles, Lauren Lindell provided the most resistance for the Tigers at the No. 3 position. She forced a tiebreak in the second set after falling 6-3 in the first set. However, her opponent won the tiebreak and took the match in straight sets. Nicole Lubbers was able to score six points in her No. 5 match and Moyers generated four points in her match, despite losing in straight sets as well.

Due to forecasted temperatures, Fort Hays State will play Central Oklahoma on Saturday in Great Bend, Kan. The match will be held at Club 1 Fitness indoor facility, set to start at 9:30 am.
