Local Yuletide Entertainment

The Winter Break is a point in the season where we can take a moment and reflect on what is really important in life. Whether you are with your family, surrounded by your friends, or unable to get out of town for a bit, it is important to remember that even though there may not be as many people around you, as usual, there are still things going on outside that can keep you entertained and excited about the upcoming year. That is why we at Tiger Media Network are making this article about things going on around town that can give you a holiday to be thankful for.

The Hays Public Library is going to be very lively over Winter Break. One activity that they are hosting is called Feed and Film. Happening every Wednesday at noon, the Library encourages you to bring your lunch and watch a documentary about a number of topics, and discuss them with other attendants. Feed and Film is open to the public, and the library encourages people of all ages to attend.

The 33rd Annual Five State Photography Exhibition will be going on from December 2nd- January 20th at the Hays Arts Gallery at 112 E 11th Street. Open Monday through Saturday, the Hays Arts Council shows off the contending arts from artists from Kansas and its surrounding states.  Free of charge, this will surely be an intriguing and educating experience that will make your day one to remember.

Finally, on December 25th, the City of Hays will be holding their 8th annual Community Christmas Dinner at the VFW located at 22nd and Vine in Hays. Starting at 11 am and going until 1 pm, the Dinner will be a great place to meet members of the community and enjoy a free meal. There will be many types of food available, and volunteers are most needed. If you are interested in volunteering, please call Brittany at 785-259-3766.

The holidays can seem like a lonely time for some, especially those that cannot go home or are otherwise unable to see their families. The community of Hays has something that is rare these days. We may have a growing population and a lot of new faces around us, but we are still a tight-knit community; A community of people that cares about the happiness and well-being of their neighbors. It’s because of this that we should all be thankful for the place we live. There is a lot going on in the world; with lots of violence and loss engulfing lives those we may not be able to see but here in Hays we can live a few days in peace and maybe even enjoy the company of those we do not even know. Don’t stay in and wait for the holidays to pass. Go out. Meet new people and remember to be thankful.
