Tennis Closes Out Season with Loss to Northwest Missouri State

HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Tennis concluded its 2015-16 season on Friday (Apr. 22) with a 9-0 loss to Northwest Missouri State. Fort Hays State finished the year at 7-13 overall and 1-9 in the MIAA.

Fort Hays State scored just two points in doubles action, both coming from the No. 2 team of Alina Villalovos and Raven Dick. They fell 8-2, while the other two teams fell 8-0.

Laura Jimenez-Lendinez played a very competitive match at No. 1 singles against the No. 20 ranked player in the region, Lorena Rivas Jarolim. Up 5-4, Jimenez-Lendinez was just two points from securing the opening set when her opponent rallied and tied the set 5-5. Rivas Jarolim went on to take the set 7-5. Jimenez-Lendinez bounced back for a 6-4 second set win to force a decisive set, but she fell 10-5. All other singles matches were won by the Bearcats in straight sets.
