KEARNEY, Neb. – Fort Hays State Tennis fell by a score of 7-0 on Tuesday (Apr. 19) at Nebraska-Kearney in an MIAA match. The Tigers fell to 7-12 overall on the season and 1-8 in the MIAA. The Lopers moved to 15-4 overall and 7-2 in the MIAA.
The No. 1 doubles team of Laura Jimenez-Lendinez and Jessica Johnson were able to push their opponent a bit, falling by a score of 8-4. But the other two Tigers doubles teams were unable to record a point.
Four of the six singles matches finished, but the No. 1 and No. 6 matches were left unfinished. The Lopers won all four matches that finished in straight sets. Haley Weidemann at No. 3 and Taylor Noel at No. 4 were each able to score two points off their opponents, as did Jimenez-Lendinez and Jaclyn Woods in the unfinished matches.
The Tigers close out the home and conference season on Friday when they host Northwest Missouri State in Hays at 1 pm.
