ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Fort Hays State suffered a 3-0 loss in the series finale against Lindenwood on Sunday (Apr. 10). With the loss the Tigers dropped to 17-18 overall and 11-13 in the MIAA, while Lindenwood improved to 15-18 overall and 9-15 in the conference.
Lindenwood started the scoring early, taking 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first just two batters in. Wes Degener led off with a triple and came in to score on a sacrifice fly from Nathan Prindle.
The Lions extended their lead to 3-0 in the sixth thanks to three extra base hits. Prindle led off the inning with a triple, then came in to score on a double off the bat of Mike Ehrhard. The next batter, Ryan Sosnowski, plated Ehrhard with a double of his.
Connor Law pitched a complete game shutout for Lindenwood. The Tigers were only able to record three hits. Law had four strikeouts and three walks.
Logan Herd took the loss for the Tigers, but threw well. He went 5.0 innings allowing three runs on four hits, with a walk and strikeout. Giles Fox and Austin Unrein each made appearances in relief duty. Fox only faced two batters and gave up a walk and a hit. Unrein finished the game for the Tigers going 3.0 innings and allowed only one Lion to reach base on a hit by pitch. He struck out two.
The Tigers are back at it again on Wednesday (Apr. 13) when they take on Nebraska-Kearney in a mid-week game at Larks Park in Hays. First pitch is set for 6 pm.
