FHSU Sports Information Department

Fort Hays State baseball heads to Jefferson City, Mo. for a three-game MIAA series against Lincoln set to begin on today, March 24th. The Tigers enter the weekend with an overall record of 10-14 and an MIAA record of 4-9, while Lincoln enters at 1-22 overall and 0-13 in the conference. Game times for Thursday and Friday will be 3 pm, while Saturday’s contest will be at 1 pm.

The Blue Tigers have struggled to push runs across the plate this season as they sit last in the MIAA in runs scored (113), and RBI (96). The strength for Lincoln is the speed on the bases as they have 32 stolen bases, which is good for seventh in the MIAA.

The Tigers are coming off a mid-week 8-1 victory over Washburn on Tuesday (Mar. 22), and look to build off the excellent pitching performance of D.J. Carr. He recorded his second complete game of the season in the win. Alex Weiss leads the Tiger offense, sitting fourth in the MIAA with a .436 batting average. Weiss also leads the MIAA in hits with 41 and is narrowly trailed by teammate Austin Unrein who has 40. Leadoff hitter Ty Redington leads the Tigers on the base paths and sits third in the conference with 12 stolen bases this season.
