INDIANAPOLIS – Fort Hays State enters the MIAA Tournament ranked No. 4 in the NCAA Central Region Rankings, the latest edition released on Wednesday (Mar. 2). The Tigers slipped from No. 2 to No. 4 after their loss to Central Oklahoma last week.
Pittsburg State remained at No. 1 in the region as it won its final regular season game on Saturday. Winona State already lost this week as the No. 2 ranked team in the region. Winona State lost in the NSIC Tournament semifinals and the results of that game were not figured into this ranking. Missouri Western moved up one spot this week to No. 3 as it won its final two regular season games.
The Tigers are still in the mix for the region’s No. 1 seed, pending on what happens at this week’s MIAA Tournament. The Tigers would have the potential of meeting Pittsburg State in the semifinals and Missouri Western in the finals should they advance past the quarterfinals on Thursday. Four of the top five teams in the region will be competing in the MIAA Tournament, which also includes No. 5 ranked Emporia State.
