Fort Hays State plays its regular season finale at Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Feb. 27) in Edmond. The Tigers are in a three-way tie for second in the MIAA entering the final day of the season, tied with Nebraska-Kearney and Missouri Southern.
Fort Hays State locked up a bye in the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Thursday night with an 87-84 win at Northeastern State. The Tigers will now be either the No. 2, No. 3, or No. 4 seed in the MIAA Tournament pending the outcome of their game and the Nebraska-Kearney and Missouri Southern games.
The Tigers enter Saturday on a four-game win streak. FHSU defeated Central Oklahoma earlier this year in Hays by a score of 91-74. In that game, Rob Davis scored 36 points and hit a season-high eight 3-point field goals. Davis leads the Tigers in scoring at 17.5 points per game.
Craig Nicholson passed 1,400 points in his career on Thursday, now with 1,405. He is sixth on the all-time scoring list at FHSU, while adding the second-most assists (616) in FHSU history.
The Bronchos have won their last two games, winning at Washburn on the road before knocking off Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night (Feb. 25) at home. The Bronchos are led in scoring by Cornell Neal at 13.9 points per game.
