MANHATTAN, Kan. – Fort Hays State pole vaulter Jake Morrow improved his provisional mark for the second straight week, this time at the KSU Steve Miller Open on Friday (Feb. 19). Morrow pushed his best mark in the event up to 16 feet, 2 inches and ranks 15th on the national performance list.
Morrow finished third in the event at the meet, matching the height of the second-place finisher who cleared on fewer attempts. Kyle Wait, an unattached athlete, cleared 17 feet, 4.5 inches to win the event.
The Tigers had a pair of second-place finishers, Dorian Germany-Garner in the 400 meters (51.63 seconds) and Erik Parrish in the triple jump (44 feet, 5.25 inches). Third place finishers included Kyle Comstock in the 60-meter hurdles (8.38 seconds) and Tregg Rodriguez in the high jump (6 feet, 6.75 inches). Kolt Newell matched Rodriguez’s height in the high jump and finished fourth.
LINCOLN, Neb. – The Tigers had a handful of distance runners comete at the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday (Feb. 19). Isaac Williams turned in the top finish among the runners, placing sixth in the 3000 meters. He ran a time of 8:37.44.
