After snapping a three-game losing streak on Thursday night, Fort Hays State looks for a second straight win on Saturday when it hosts Southwest Baptist at 4 pm inside Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. The Tigers enter the game at 14-7 overall and 8-7 in the MIAA while the Bearcats enter at 9-12 overall and 4-11 in the MIAA.
The Tigers are currently in fifth in the MIAA standings as they look to stay in the chase for the top four spots in the MIAA standings. The top four teams in the conference receive a bye to Kansas City for the MIAA Tournament at the completion of the regular season.
Fort Hays State defeated Central Missouri on Thursday night handily by a score of 81-54. The win extended Fort Hays State’s home win streak to seven games. The Tigers picked up their first-ever regular season sweep of Central Missouri.
The Tigers won the first meeting with Southwest Baptist earlier this season in Bolivar by a score of 83-66. Rob Davis had a team-high 29 points in that game while Dom Samac had 20. Davis leads the Tigers in scoring at 17.4 points per game and had 22 on Thursday night against Central Missouri. Samac is second on the team in scoring at 14.9 points per game.
Craig Nicholson passed 1,300 points for his career on Thursday. He posted his first double-double of the season with 14 points and a season-high 10 assists. It was the 10th double-double of his career in the two categories.
Southwest Baptist is coming off a loss at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night. The Bearcats are led in scoring by Logan Hovey at 14.1 points per game.
