Tiger Men Look to Get Back On Track Tonight against RiverHawks

FHSU Sports Information Department

Fort Hays State looks to snap a two-game losing streak on tonight (Jan. 14) when it hosts Northeastern State at Gross Memorial Coliseum in Hays. Game time is set for 7:30 pm. The Tigers are coming off a tough road trip in which they went 0-2 at Lindenwood and Lincoln.

Dropping a pair of conference contests on the road last week, FHSU fell back to 5-4 in the MIAA. But they remain very much alive at the top of the standings with the amazing parity of teams this year in the conference. The Tigers could pull within a game of the conference lead with a win on Thursday night as Lindenwood and Northwest Missouri State both lost on Wednesday night to fall back into a tie for first at 7-3 with Missouri Southern.

Northeastern State enters the game at 4-9 overall and 3-6 in the MIAA. The RiverHawks are on a two-game win streak after knocking off Washburn and Emporia State at home last week.

Dom Samac leads FHSU in scoring and rebounding at 17.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Rob Davis averages 16.3 points per game and leads the team in 3-point field goals made with 32. Jake Stoppel also averages double figures in scoring at 11.5 points per game. Craig Nicholson looks to move to second alone on the career assist list at FHSU. He is currently tied for second with former Tiger Mark Wilson at 556 career assists. Nicholson is averaging 9.7 points and 4.5 assists per game.
