Fort Hays State rides a five-game win streak into a pivotal MIAA match-up with Missouri Southern on tonight at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm. The Tigers enter at 10-2 overall, 4-2 in the MIAA, while Missouri Southern is 8-5 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA. Missouri Southern currently sits in a tie for second place in the MIAA standings with Northwest Missouri State. Fort Hays State looks to jump Missouri Southern in the standings on Monday night with a half-game difference between the teams. The Lions lost in a high-scoring affair at Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday by a score of 113-100. Taevaunn Prince of Missouri Southern, a 6-foot, 3-inch guard, is the top scorer and rebounder in the MIAA. He averages 25.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game. Dom Samac is leading FHSU in scoring and rebounding at 17.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. Rob Davis adds 15.7 points per game and Jake Stoppel has had a hot hand offensively of late, scoring in double figures in each of the last five games. Stoppel scored a career-high 24 points against Pittsburg State on Saturday and has averaged 18 points per game in the last five contests. He is averaging 12.4 points per game for the season. Craig Nicholson had a solid first game back from injury on Saturday, scoring 12 points and adding a season-high nine assists. Nicholson is now just seven assists behind Mark Wilson for second on the career assist list at FHSU. He is also just eight points behind Corbin Kuntzsch for 12th on the all-time scoring list at FHSU.
