FHSU Women’s Basketball looks to the new season

By Elliot Carlson

Once again basketball season is upon us here at Fort Hays State University and with head coach Tony Hobson at the helm, the Tigers look to have another very successful season.

During the offseason, the Tigers added five new faces to their roster, three freshmen, and two transfer athletes.

The Tigers are coming off of their best season in the program’s history with a 30-4 record.

The Tigers are ranked second in the MIAA behind the Emporia State Hornets.

The team will return three of the five starters from the previous season including Chelsea Mason, Beth Bohuslavsky, and Paige Lunsford.

Chelsea Mason said, “The offseason has been going well for us, the upperclassmen are doing good things together and the new girls are learning fast.”

The Tigers have had two scrimmages against junior college teams and they have won both of them.

Chelsea said, “We plan to be as good, if not better than last year.”

The Tigers basketball team is now into their preseason practices and are looking sharp all around despite their loss of two previous starters from the previous year.  They start their season on the road taking on Upper Iowa on Friday, November 13 and Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday, November 14 before returning to Hays to play St. Cloud State Friday, November 20.
