KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fort Hays State’s Kristen Thompson earned MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week honors for her efforts in a pair of wins this past week in Hays. Thompson posted her third shutout of the season in a 1-0 double overtime win over Lindenwood, then picked up her fifth win of the season in a 2-1 win over No. 1 ranked Central Missouri.
Thompson went all 102:15 in the 1-0 win over Lindenwood and recorded four saves. In the 2-1 upset of Central Missouri, she had four saves and limited an offense averaging over four goals per match to just one. Thompson had a goals against average of 0.47 for the week and lowered her season average to 0.98. She faced nine shots on goal for the week, saving eight, and the defense in front of her allowed just a .333 shots on goal percentage for the week.
Thompson helped the Tigers run their overall win streak to three matches, now at 6-4 overall and 3-1 in the MIAA. Thompson has a record of 5-3 for the season.
