The Fort Hays State women’s cross country team was victorious at the Trojan Invitational, hosted by Colby Community College, on Friday (Sept. 4). True freshman Sophie Dalmasso led the Tigers in her first collegiate event. The Tigers topped a field of three teams at the meet.
Dalmasso covered the 4K course in a time of 14:54. She was the only runner to break the 15-minute mark. Micki Krzesinski was behind her in second with a time of 15:08, Chelsea Jackson was third in 15:15, and Shea Bonine was fourth in 15:32. A runner from Hastings College kept the Tigers from sweeping the top five spots, but Amanda Morgan finished sixth in a time of 15:37 to round out the team scoring for FHSU. The Tigers finished with a near-perfect team score of 16.
FHSU competes in a dual with New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo on Friday (Sept. 11) in Johnson, Kan.
