Fresh Hops formed in March of 2008, originally it was outlet for musical improvisation among friends, Stephen Cook, Ian Gill, Kevin Mardirosian, and Joe Marcinek. The group has seen numerous line ups and instrumentation that have lead to an eclectic mix of sounds and atmospheres. As writers and performers Fresh Hops constantly blurs the lines between genres and style, often during the course of a single song. That “anything goes” attitude has translated to a stage show that remains fresh and fun from show to show. The realization that jazz, classic soul, bluegrass, classical, metal and progressive jam rock can all shake hands and play nice has guided them to create remarkable tunes from an ever-expanding palette.
From the early beginnings, Fresh Hops strived to be a well oiled, high energy road show. After performing over a 1,000 shows, spending most of their time on the road and honing in that Fresh Hops sound, they are finally ready to spend the time and money in the studio.
On the road, the question asked most is “Where can I get a Fresh Hops album?” At this point in time Fresh Hops have only been able to give out rough, live recordings of shows that they copy themselves and hand out for free.
All that changed on December 18, 2014 when they officially released their first album, Everyone Act Normal.
