Fort Hays State’s Brady Tien was named to the 2015 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America Men’s Track and Field/Cross Country Team.  Tien was a second-team selection.

Tien, a Justice Studies major at FHSU, held a grade point average of 3.72.  He earned All-America honors in the outdoor pole vault by finishing 6th at the 2015 NCAA Championships.  He twice earned All-America honors as he finished 6th nationally in the indoor pole vault in 2014.

During the 2015 outdoor season, Tien broke Fort Hays State’s outdoor pole vault record that had stood for 34 years.  Tien upped the mark to 17 feet, passing the old mark of 16-feet, 10-inches set by Kim Stewart in 1981.  He was the first Tiger ever to clear 17 feet, outdoor or indoor.

Tien’s selection gives Fort Hays State 45 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections all-time, the first dating back to 1975.  Tien gave Fort Hays State three CoSIDA Academic All-America selections for 2014-15 calendar year, joining Kate Lehman(women’s basketball) and Jesse Trent(football).
