Tigers cruise to shutout win at Stephens College

Fort Hays State tennis played a non-conference match at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., on Friday afternoon. The Tigers cruised to a 9-0 win over the Stars.
The Tigers, now 11-8 overall on the season, won doubles matches handily, surrendering only three points between the three matches. FHSU won all of its singles matches in straight sets.

At No. 1 doubles, Camille Caron-Bedard and Reinette Strydomteamed to defeat Courtney Huels and Hannah Dorey by a score of 8-2. At No. 2, Brittney Ricci and Katie Hipp defeated Gracie Strawn and Aleesa Wolf 8-1. At No. 3, Michelle Miller and Jessica Johnson shutout Margaret Thomas and Alissa Transchilla.

In singles play, the Tigers surrendered only four points over the six matches. Caron-Bedard defeated Huels at No. 1 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2, Ricci won 6-0, 6-2 over Dorey. Miller blanked Strawn at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0. Strydom picked up a default win at No. 4. Johnson won 6-0, 6-1 over Thomas at No. 5. Raven Dick shutout Transchilla at No. 6 by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers play Lindenwood in conference action on Saturday in St. Charles, Mo., at 10 am.
