TMN LIVE from Tahlequah!

Tyler Parks (commentator):

Tiger Media Network here in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where the Fort Hays State basketball team is playing their final game of the regular season. Big story tonight no Beth Bohuslavsky, suffered a knee injury last game, Thursday in Edmond Oklahoma, against UCO. We got Nicky Kacperska starting in her place.

Tigers have already clinched the regular season title. They’re playing just to keep the momentum going into the tournament here next weekend in Kansas City. Tigers are standing at 25 and 2 on the season, 17 to 1 in the conference with that lone loss to Pittsburgh State, earlier this year. On Thursday Fort Hays State pulled out a win at UCO, a 1 point victory. The Riverhawks also played on Thursday, losing to [Kerrney 00:01:24], 63 to 52 in this beautiful coliseum, probably the best coliseum in the conference. New coliseum, beautiful, one of the best I’ve ever been in.

Tigers scored the most points per game in the conference at 75, Northeastern State is last in that category with only 55 points a game. Tigers allow only 55 points a game, which meets their average. It’s early here in the game, we have 1 point, a Lehman free throw. We’re at not even a minute in yet. We already have a foul, it looks like it’s going to be on Kerriann Ann Shaw.

It’s a snowy last day of February here in Tahlequah, not a huge turnout, it is snowing, like I said and it is early in the day. We could see more fans show up as the day progresses. Again, big story, you see Beth Bohuslavsky’s on the bench next to the coaches, on crutches. Hobson said last game she would not play whether the injury was severe or not. Like I said, they’ve already clinched the regular season title in the MIAA, they did in fact, with 2 games left in the season. They have a 3 game lead on the 2 teams behind them, which is Pitt and Emporia who’ve also clinched a spot in Kansas City, first round by I guess, currently Northeastern State sets at 11 and 4 this season and 7 and 11 in the MIAA.

Oh, in and out there. The score is still 1 nothing, we’re a minute and a half in. That should be exciting game, the Tigers need this to carry that momentum to carry them into the MIAA tournament. It’s important to win late in the season, even on the road, especially on the road. The close game against UCO was kind of a fluke, I would say. The Tigers did not play well, but they did pull out a victory, those close wins like that are going to help them come tournament time when they’re playing in unfamiliar territory and trying to get wins against good.

The conference is good across the board. Rebounding has been a problem as of late. Lehman has struggled handling that one. It is 3 to nothing, Tigers lead. We are about 2 1/2 minutes in the the game. And that’s a shot you see from Chelsea Mason all the time. That’s her shot, that little running jumper from the side. Tigers are number 1 in the scoring margin in the MIAA, beating, averaging 19 points more in their game, Riverhawks are 13th, next to last, with negative 6, losing by an average of about 7 points, 6.9 points a game.

Another Chelsea Mason basket, she’s catching fire early, that is a good sign for the Tigers. When she’s hot, she doesn’t miss. We will be bringing you more updates throughout the game on this beautiful, beautiful Northeastern State Center here. I’m Tyler Parks, my producer Ken Marino, as always. We are the Tiger Media Network, stay tuned for more.

Tyler Parks (commentator):
Tyler Parks for Tiger Media network here in Tahlequah where the Tigers jumped out early, it’s 16 to 4, just over halfway through the first half. Big story, Chelsea Mason got hot, as we expected her to do. She got 7 points of the the 16 points. Nicky Kacperska filling in for the injured Beth Bohuslavsky has 4 and it was all Tigers all day. Jumped out 16 straight unanswered points to start the game. NSU has answered back with 4 of their own, but it’s not even close here, about 7 minutes left here in the first half and it’s all Tigers.

Like I said, it’s 16 straight points to start the game. The Riverhawks have answered back with 4, but it’s an over-matched game here, we’re taller, we’re faster, we’re stronger. A lot of girls are getting playing time that haven’t seen a lot of playing time this year. Jenna Ulrich with a big offensive rebound and a foul. She was also fouled, there have been a lot of ticky-tack fouls this game, in my opinion, I’m not a ref though, so it doesn’t matter what I think. Lot of bad calls, a lot of not calls for both sides. It’s 6 to 5 in fouls.

The pageantry here, the students yelling during free throws, that’s what basketball’s about.

Again Jenna Ulrich hasn’t seen a lot of playing time this year, coming in here, she’s seen more late in the season. [inaudible 00:07:01] free throw that’s 17 to 4, 7 minutes left and it’s all Tigers here, and that’s exactly what you want to see from a team that gets a first round by, won’t play again until next Friday. They won’t play again until Kansas City, so you want to leave your last game a really good one. Let the other girls play that haven’t got to play this year.

Your score is 17 to 4, we’re almost through the half, we’ll bring you more updates and Chelsea Mason with another one, 20 to 4, Chelsea Mason, 10 points already, 6 1/2 to go, I’m Tyler Parks with my producer Ken Marino with the Tiger Media Network.

Tyler Parks (commentator):
I’m Tyler Parks with the Tiger Media Network bringing you a 2nd half update, it’s 24 to 16, Tigers lead, only 3 points have been scored this half, and they were all by the Riverhawks. Chelsea Mason just hit a 3 pointer down on her end, but Lehman was called for an offensive foul before the shot. It was a strange call, they waved the shot off and took the points away. That’s the only basket that’s gone in for the Tigers this half. They’ve had good looks, just unable to capitalize every time Lehman gets the ball it’s double and triple team. They’re suffocating her there. Just like that, Tigers get good looks, they just can’t put the ball in the hole. Must be that rim, maybe they put Saran Wrap on it or something, I don’t know. Can’t see it but it’s force field.

Like I said, only 3 points scored this half, we’re 4 minutes in, 9 Tigers have played already. Players we don’t normally see. Again with Beth Bohuslavsky out, Kristen Huser, a freshman from Victoria played 7 minutes in the first half. A face we don’t normally see for the Tigers. Again, Nicky Kacperska is starting in the spot of Beth Bohuslavsky who is nursing that knee injury she suffered against UCO on Thursday. Chelsea Mason, 10 points, leads all scores, again no Tigers have scored this half. Just 3 points for the Riverhawks. Kind of a slow 2nd half here. Chelsea Mason air balls it, a rare miss for her. She was heating up early, a rare, rare miss.

Yeah, 3 fouls for Lehman already on that weird offensive call they got her on, Elle Stein seen quite a bit of action, as well as Jenna Ulrich. Lehman only played about 6 or 7 minutes in that first half, not getting a lot of action, resting her for the MIAA tournament. See what the Riverhawks do, they got the momentum with them. A deep 3 goes right in, same spot with the last time, that’s a 6-0 Riverhawk run to start this 2nd half. 5 minutes in, only scored 6 points combined. They were all the Riverhawks.

Lehman a rare miss, a rebound and a put back, there’s 2 points. That’s a 6 to 2 Riverhawk run after Lehman puts in a bucket. She’s been struggling down there as they triple or double team her, like I said. Every time she touches the ball there’s at least 2 bodies right on top of her. She’s getting frustrated, we’ve seen ah, a big steal by Shaw, she’s been big, big this 2nd half of the season, just a completely different player from the first half. Kacperska gets the ball, she is running point for this team today as Bohuslavsky nursing that knee injury. We hope to see her for the MIAA tournament. Hobson said that she will be going to the doctor on Monday to get it looked at. He doesn’t think it’s serious, but only time will tell.

Tyler Parks (commentator):
I’m Tyler Parks, this is a Media time out it’s about to get really loud with the band playing, so we’ll send it off here, I’m Tyler Parks with my producer Ken Morino. Thanks for tuning in.

I’m Tyler Parks with the Tiger Media Networks here in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where the girls finish out the regular season, with a 50 to 28 win. The big story

here, Beth Bohuslavsky did not play, nursing that knee injury. Nick Kacperska comes in, scores 10 points, plays well, turnovers were a big problem for the tigers, had about 15 turnovers in the game, and they didn’t have an assist in the whole 1st half. Just a different game without Bohuslavsky who’s been really big lately. Chelsea Mason got hot and when she gets hot, you know how it goes, 19 points for her, big night. Those were the only Tigers who scored in double digits.

The Tigers had 6, 7 more Tigers score including Lehman had 6, Shaw and Lunsford both added 4. Their contribution came on the glass, rebounding, doing what they normally do. Again, Chelsea Mason got hot, picked her spot, shot about 6 3s from the same spot in a row, hitting most of them. Again, Tigers win 50 to 28 here in Tahlequah, big win, close out the season, with a 26 and 2 record, 18 and 1 in the conference, take the conference regular season championship. We have the tournament coming up next week, we’ll be broadcasting all of those games for you. Stay tuned.

I’m Tyler Parks again, lady Tigers win here in Tahlequah, close out the season with a win, I’m Tyler Parks with the Tiger Media Network, my producer Ken Marino. Thanks for tuning in.

Tyler Parks (commentator):

Good afternoon Tiger fans, we’re here in Tahlequah Oklahoma where the Tigers are facing the Riverhawks of northeastern state for the final regular season game of the year. We got some action here. Tigers lead … oh there’s another basket.

Tigers now lead 17 to 8, big run to start the game. We just had the first media timeout. On the floor Drew Kite seeing more playing time as the season goes on and Don ( ) 24 down there who leads the MIAA in field goal percentage having a great year off the bench for him. Fort Hays both teams must win this game, Fort Hays say this type of Washburn currently for that 8, 9 spot. A win here and a Pittsburgh state win over Washburn would give us a home MIAA tournament game. Which is something you want, you want to host the game so you don’t have to go somewhere.

Northeastern state is 4 and 14 in that 13 spot right behind Emporia State, a win here might push them above Emporia State and get them into the tournament because the bottom two teams get knocked out, only 12 teams make it. There are 14 teams in the league. Oh James Flemming, big rebound by Kite, doing work down low, Drew Kite. I don’t know what they called there. Big rebound by Drew … again must win for both teams here. Fort Hays fighting to host a playoff game, northeastern state fighting just to get into the playoffs. Step over here for a second. Both teams are decent teams, this is a tough conference. Tough MIAA conference… tough, tough division. Riverhawks are coached by Jason Tinsley, it’s his first year, there are 6 and 9 on the season, 14 and 4 in the MIAA again at the 13th spot. Tigers are 16, 11 and 9 and 9 in the MIAA, must win here, last game of the season. Both teams trying get a victory here to stay in the playoff. I’m Tyler Parks, my producer Ken Marino will bring you updates as much as we can with the little battery we have left.

Tigers are leading now. Tight game, most of the game has been back and forth. Tigers just took a big … I’d say a big, a fairly big lead 8 point lead here. Late in the first half. It is Riverhawks basketball at the moment. Big play from Drew Kite today. Getting more minutes as the season progressed, he’s got 3 or 4 offensive rebounds doing very well on the glass. He hasn’t made a free throw yet I don’t think, I think he’s 0 for 4 which isn’t very good but … Riverhawks score again it’s 26, 32. Six point lead for the Tigers here, trying not to get run over. Again must win, both teams need to win here for the MIAA tournament purposes. Tigers are fighting for a home play out spot while northeastern is hoping just to get in.

Royce Williams for 3. And he is always the show bug. Four minutes left … 26, 35 is your score here in Tahlequah. We’ll bring you more updates as this game progresses. See if we can give you this fast break real quick. Royce Williams again for another 3. That’s 3 or 4 for him already tonight. I’m Tyler Parks, my producer Kevin Marino, thanks for tuning in. Did it cut out again?

We’re here in Tahlequah … 43, 50 is the score. Two big 3 pointers by northeastern state. Mark Johnson gets on the court, calls time out. Big comeback here. They were up by 15 at one point, it’s now cut down to 7. Big story tonight, Royce Williams 15 points in the first half. One of the best performances I’ve seen from him in a long time, mostly on 3 pointers. Huge night and also a big night from Drew Kite, we talked about him earlier saying he was shining that glass. He kept it up, 7 rebounds already and () 6 of 6 by himself, it’s been a great night for him. Let’s see if we can give you some of the action here.

In this beautiful, beautiful arena here in Tahlequah Oklahoma. Like I said 15 point lead has now been trimmed down to 7 with a push by the Riverhawks here early in the second half. And it’s been that kind of half for the Tigers because nothing seems to be working and the ball stays with the Riverhawks there. The Riverhawks have 3 players, scored 7 points already. Tigers, 50 points. James Flemming draws the foul. Great play there by James Flemming. Him and () both have stepped up this year with a loss of … excuse me, Craig Nicholson. You don’t replace a player like Craig Nicholson, you just do the best you can without him.

Tigers have done well, 9 and 9. Still fighting for that a spot trying to get that home play half game from the MIAA tournament. It’s been that gap, just like that. Just sloppy passes, up by 15 at one point in the second half. Just hasn’t really panned out. Looks like we’re going to have a media time out here and the score is 43 to 50 in this beautiful arena in Tahlequah. We’ll bring you more updates. I’m Tyler Parks with my producer Ken Marino, shooting on a phone now.

For 75% of the game, a couple missed opportunities there at the end. The Riverhawks do in fact move up to that 12 spot and do advance. This was like I said a must win for them. They will advance to the first round which is … of course they will play the number 5 seed team in the conference on Monday. The fate of the Tigers is still kind of in the hands of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh beats Washburn, Washburn drops down below us. I do believe we own that tie breaker so we should be … move up past or stay past them. We’re ahead of them at the moment. We really need a Pittsburgh win today, they again play tonight at 7.

We said that earlier, I don’t know how much we got of that but Pitt and Washburn play at 7 tonight. That will kind of decide whether we’re at 8 or 9 whether we go on the road or whether we play at home on Monday.

Again great game by the Riverhawks in the second half. Tigers just played poorly, over 20 turnovers on the game to the Riverhawks, 10 maybe. A lot of free throws, a lot of free throws, probably the most I’ve seen in a single game. Just a poor performance in the second half, Tigers led by 15 at one point and then just kind of fell apart. I don’t know, we fell apart, we weren’t playing well and northeastern state, you got to give them credit. They played very well in the second half … very, very well. A very different team than what we saw in the first half, they were playing … you know to keep their season going. Win and move on, they won, they’re moving on, they actually get to host the tournament, they kind of spoiled Emporia’s year by knocking them out in the final day of the season.

Sorry we cut out on you guys … 77, 79 is your final Tigers lose by 2 here in Tahlequah. Long, long road home in the ice and the snow. Thanks for tuning in today. I had a couple road games here in a row. I’m Tyler Parks, my producer Ken Marino on the Tiger media network. Thanks for tuning in. Again tough loss, women pull out a win here, men lose by 2. We’ll see if we can give you those final rankings as soon as we know, about 9:30 tonight. Thanks for tuning in.

Sound Off!
