Fort Hays State; International University

In a recent report, the United States has welcomed nearly 900,000 international students to its colleges and universities during the 2013-2014 school years, an 8 percent increase from the previous year. Fort Hays State University has always been at the forefront of reaching out to and offering opportunities international students.

FHSU was the first American university to be approved by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China. In 2000, FHSU began offering courses in mainland China, and by 2013 there were more than 3,000 students at Sias International University.  Degree programs for Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership, Bachelor of Science in Information, Networking and Telecommunications and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science are currently offered.

International students from 35 nations find their way to FHSU to experience school in a rural American setting, better themselves and their education.  FHSU has many student organizations for international students, like African Ambassadors, Chinese Academy, Hispanic American Leadership Organization and the International Student Union that offer support and guidance to students.

FHSU also offers to students the chance to study abroad with several options, like a summer, a semester or year studying abroad.  Nursing students have been to Brazil and Peru, as well as studying  at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany.
