Men’s Cross Country Finishes Seventh at MIAA Championships

Fort Hays State University men’s cross country turned in a seventh-place performance at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships in Bolivar, Mo. Saturday. Isaac Williams was the top Tiger performer in 16th place, earning All-MIAA Honorable Mention honors.

The Tigers finished with 163 points, taking seventh in the nine-team field. Missouri Southern was dominant, winning the race with 22 points, placing all five of its scorers in the top 10. That included individual champion Eric Schott, who covered the 8K course in a time of 24:41. Nebraska-Kearney finished second with 55 points and Pittsburg State was third with 94.

Williams covered the course in a time of 25:39 for the Tigers. Next to cross the line for FHSU was Troy Wineinger in a time of 25:57, finishing 23rd. Seth Parres was 37th in a time of 26:31. Ryan Hopkins was 44th overall in a time of 26:49, while Brock Elgin rounded out the Tiger scorers in 51st with a time of 27:04.

The Tigers return to action on November 22nd at the NCAA Central Regional in Wayne, Neb.
