Homecoming week offers FHSU students many activities to participate in; however, many of these events are limited to on-campus students. To ensure online students have a chance to be included in homecoming week, Tebo Library and Student Engagement have teamed up to host the fourth Online Homecoming.
“Online Homecoming is open to anyone,” User Experience and Outreach Librarian Cyndi Landis said. “But it was designed as a way to engage FHSU Online students with the university during Homecoming Week. Between the games, contests, and puzzles, there’s something for everyone.”
This week, students, faculty, staff, community members and alumni are encouraged to participate in the available online activities. Tebo Library will host a virtual escape room that involves learning about FHSU history. Participants can also enter a t-shirt design contest and create an FHSU design. Another available event is the Victor E. Video Game, in which users try to score the highest points. Participation gives attendees the opportunity to earn prizes.
“We create a new escape room each year as a new challenge and we always love to see photos and spirited designs from our students,” Landis said.

“By participating in the Online Homecoming activities, I hope online students feel connected to the university and are proud that they are an FHSU Tiger!” Landis said.
Additionally, Tiger Media Network will live-stream a student-led broadcast on Thursday before the bonfire events. This broadcast will highlight groups involved in the homecoming football game. There will be interviews with staff, football players, and head coach Chris Brown. During the broadcast, students will also have a chance to win prizes and a $1000 scholarship.
“I feel our broadcast will provide a fun experience for online students by giving them a personal look into what Hays has going on in and around town,” event producer Evan Liess said. “Our goal for this show is to be like College Gameday. We want everyone to be included, even if they’re not here with us.”
