Hansen Hall is a residential hall on campus that houses 33 students from multiple majors. Residents can be graduate or undergraduate students, but they all share an interest in entrepreneurship. Students who live in Hansen praise its close-knit community, even calling it a “home away from home.” They love how everyone there wants to be there,

“Everyone has a spirit of entrepreneurship, and they’re all go-getters, and they’re willing to work hard and learn,” Hansen resident Chelsie Rose said. “This is a place where everyone supports and motivates each other.”

One of the unique parts of Hansen Hall is the frequent meetings with entrepreneurs and business owners. In these workshops, students can learn about their successes and failures. The speakers teach business skills, and workshops give students hands-on experience in starting businesses. Getting to network with these people gives residents a big advantage.

Hansen Hall residents are also very active in the annual EPIC and Faulkner challenges, where students compete to create business pitches and plans for a cash prize. The entrepreneurial and driven community gives the residents an edge in the challenges. The older residents also support these challenges by mentoring and offering advice to the younger residents.

People often assume that Hansen Hall is only for business majors or that it’s only a place to start a business. However, that’s a misconception. While Hansen provides residents with support and resources to thrive in the business world, many of the skills learned are applicable across any field.

“Business is an important part of everyday life, no matter what your major is,” senior psychology major Chloe Nelson said.

Hansen Hall isn’t just a residential building; it’s a community where students support each other’s passions and goals. For those interested in living in Hansen Hall, the application, which is reviewed in March, can be found in the Residential Life Housing Contract.
