The FHSU Shotgun Team competed at the collegiate regional competition in San Antonio, January 29-February 1. The team finished 2nd overall in their first competition after winter break.
Team placings:
- Third place finish in Double Trap
- Third place finish in Double Skeet
- Second place finish in Sporting Clays
- Cory Walker took 3rd place in men’s Sporting Clays
- Second place finish in American Skeet
- Andrew Saville took men’s HOA in American Skeet
- First place finish in American Trap
- Emily Miller took women’s 3rd place in American Trap
Coaches Jerrod Lies and Damian Giles spoke on their Coaches’ Corner show about the performance.
“I know these kids wanted that undefeated record to continue, but in the grand scheme of things, they’re doing just fine,” Liess said. “The big one at the end of March is what we’re after. This shoot will only motivate and drive them even more.”
“The kids shot well coming off break and only having three practice sessions,” Giles said. “We saw them start to sharpen up and get back in the groove as the competition went on. They’ll be ready for nationals. We’re excited for the weeks to come.”
