Thomas More Prep (TMP) Marian’s annual vocal show, accompanied by dinner or desserts, is scheduled for this weekend. This year, the TMP Pop Singers will dance to and sing popular songs that all ages can enjoy, including songs like “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, and “A Million Dreams” from the popular musical, “The Greatest Showman”.

Seniors Landon Herrman and Brooke Befort spoke about what to expect in this year’s show.

“People should attend this event because it isn’t just a concert, but it is an experience,” Herrman said. “There is high energy, great music, and a lot of heart put into every performance. You will leave the show entertained with hopefully a smile on your face.”

Befort said the performers have been putting in extra work to make this show an experience.

“There has been a lot of work put into this show, and we have been working on the music since the beginning of the school year,” Befort said. “It’s impressive to watch many of the singers share their voice and talent, and the songs tend to vary, so there’s something for everyone.”

Instrumentalist and TMP Graduate, Amy Staab, said she has been involved with TMP for quite some time.

“Outside of my years as a student at TMP‑MHS, my first return to the program was assisting Bob Maxwell with the 1993–1994 musical. My real involvement began in 2010, when Kathy Amrein invited me to serve as a keyboardist for the TMP Popsingers. Two years later, Travis Grizzell recruited me as accompanist for the musicals, and I’ve been part of the program ever since.”

Staab explained why she continues to be part of productions at TMP and what her favorite experience with Pop Singers is.

“I stay because I genuinely enjoy working with the students—and because every season adds new music to my repertoire,” she said. “Discovering songs I never would have encountered without the students remains my favorite part of the experience.”

Tickets for the show are available here or at the door. Saturday’s performance includes dinner at 6 p.m. with the show beginning at 7 p.m. At Sunday’s show, desserts are served at 1 p.m., and the show begins at 2 p.m.
