FHSU’s Online Student Government Association (OSGA) met for the last time this semester on Saturday.

Karley Downham was sworn in as OSGA secretary and Seth McGinnes was sworn in as Public Relations Officer.

Until last year, the organization was associated with the on-campus Student Government Association. The organization is now separate. OSGA President Eileen Moore noted the importance of that distinction and the work being done.

“We’re still kind of in a period of rebuilding and learning and growing and then the University is now behind us,” Moore said.

Moore also encouraged students to use university resources to advance OSGA initiatives.

“We need to tap into the faculty and admin and services on campus and have them work for us, and they are willing, but we just have to ask them,” Moore said.

Some of the action items for the spring semester will include advancing a timely grading resolution to the Faculty Senate and conducting the online student survey.

Two more TigerTalks are scheduled and two more editions of the Online News will be published in the spring semester.

Moore also noted the group will host a Town Hall with faculty. The event was very successful last year.

“It’s a very productive, honest, safe, face-to-face exchange between faculty and students,” Moore said.

The next OSGA meeting will take place at 8:00 p.m. CST on January 20 via Zoom. All students are welcome to attend. Email osga@fhsu.edu for the Zoom link.
