On Thursday, FHSU Assistant Provost for Student Success, Beth Spencer, spoke to the Student Government Association about her background and the work she does at FHSU.

Spencer is in her first year at the university, having spent the past 25 years in Atlanta. As an assistant provost, she works closely with Academic Success, which includes tutoring, LLCs, and Navigate 360.

She said she is also working on a career development program and collaborating with policies to try and help the student body.

“We think we would be successful when our students make academic progress toward their degree, or complete whatever they want,” she said.

Spencer also said that every student is going to have a different version of success and the opportunity for students to recognize what success means to them.

Spencer also said she is currently reviewing the academic standing policy to determine if any revisions are needed.

In New Business, one new bill was up for first reading.
